Christmasgiving

Christmas is fun for about a million reasons. For kids, getting presents is usually way up there on that list of reasons. We at Sola Fide think presents are great, but we also want to use our learning environment and our community to teach, model, and encourage a spirit of generosity and kindness among our children. Instead of classroom gift exchanges, we try to get kids to look outward. Here’s a list of things Sola Fide would love you to consider.

  1. Our Christmas Giving Project is the Heifer Foundation. Each year we pick a humanitarian aid project to support as a group. This gives us a chance to focus some conversations on generosity. We would love for you to join us in supporting this project by talking with your kids about why it is important to give to those in need, and second, engaging them in the donation process, either cash or digital. Your child probably brought home an envelope last week if you want to send cash or a paper check. You can also donate online at www.solafide.com/give. You can learn more about Heifer International at www.heifer.org

  2. Take a look at our classroom wish lists. We love your support and encouragement in all its various forms. If you are considering a gift for your school or teacher, take a look at the lists posted here: https://school.solafide.com/wish-lists.

  3. Consider becoming a donor to the GASSO scholarship program. This program allows you to make a donation to Sola Fide’s Tuition Assistance program and then, via a tax refund, receive 100% of your donation back about 14 months later. If you earn income in the state of Georgia, this program might be a good fit for you. Learn more at www.georgiasso.com

Christmas Program

Your children have been working hard to ready songs and Scripture for Thursday Night’s Christmas Program. “Good News of Great Joy” starts at 6:30pm. Students are asked to arrive between 6:10 and 6:15 and are to go directly to their classrooms. Students playing piano or another instrument are asked to arrive at 6:00 and should go to the Great Hall. Once parents have dropped off their kids, they can go and take a seat in Sola Fide’s sanctuary.

Friday Early Dismissal

School dismisses on Friday, December 15th at 12:30pm. There is no after school care.

New Piano Lesson Slots Available

There will be a few new piano lesson slots available for K-8 students beginning in January. If your child would like to begin taking piano lessons, please reply to Mr. Schmiege so your name can be included as those spots are allocated.

Christmas Worship at Sola Fide

Everyone is invited to Christmas Eve worship at Sola Fide, especially if you don’t have a church that you usually attend. Worship is at 5pm. Ours is called a service of lessons and carols. The service closes with candlelight.

Ski Weekend

Students ages 11 and older are invited to the WELS South Atlantic District Ski Weekend in Gatlinburg on February 2-4. The signup deadline is Friday, December 15th. More information is available here: https://southatlanticyouth.com/ski-weekend. Send your questions to Mr. Schmiege.
