Welcome to the Water Buffalo
Two years ago, the students and parents of Sola Fide took on a project. We wanted to raise enough money to dig a well in a place overseas that suffers from water insecurity. Not only did we dig a well, but we also raised enough money to buy a Water Buffalo so that a family on the other side of the globe could farm more efficiently, and combat food insecurity. We accomplished this task two years in a row!
To us, the Water Buffalo has become a symbol of what God can do through his people when they are united in love and service.
Later this month you’ll hear about Buffalo Herds, our campus community-building groups. Our weekly newsletter shares this moniker as well. Earlier this summer, our school also officially adopted the Water Buffalo as our school mascot. We are excited to move forward in this spirit of teamwork and service!
PTA Meeting - This Thursday at 7:00pm
Our PTA will have its first meeting of the year this Thursday, August 11th at 7:00 PM in the Academy’s Great Hall. We’ll seek to set forth some plans and goals for the year, as well as describe some of the PTA-led events that are coming up in the first three months of the school year.
Stay-and-Play
Stay-and-Play days are days when we encourage families to stick around and have fun outside on our campus for a little while. It’s a great chance for parents to get to know each other, for kids to have some extra playground time, and for us to build a stronger community together. Stay-and-Play is low-key and high fun. There are basically two rules: 1. Be nice. 2. Parents have to be on campus in order for Stay-and-Play to be free.
If your child has other siblings between the ages of 0 and 15, they are welcome to join you and your Sola Fide student at Stay-and-Play.
Our first Stay-and-Play is THIS FRIDAY, August 12th. On Friday, you have three options:
Pick up your child at the normal time and head home.
Come to school at approximately 3:45 and head out to the playground with your child.
Have your child attend after school care. (Those kids will also go to stay-and-play.)
Camp South Sunday
This Sunday (August 14th) is Camp South Sunday at Sola Fide. We’re going to sing some of the songs that our students sang at Camp South. We’re also going to focus on the Camp Theme of the spiritual recharging that we get when we are plugged into God’s Word. You are always welcome to join us for worship on Sundays at 8:00 or 10:30 AM.
Cross Country - Running Club for 3rd-8th Grades
The Cross Country team will begin practices on Monday, August 15th. Practices will run from 3:50 to 4:55 PM. More information and a sign-up page is available at school.solafide.com/running.
Bruster’s Fundraiser
Next Friday afternoon (August 19th), the PTA would like to encourage you to eat some ice cream at Bruster’s in Grayson between 3:00 and 6:00pm. During that time frame, Bruster’s will donate 20% of their proceeds back to Sola Fide. Rosebud Road in Grayson is under construction, so plan accordingly. (You may need to park in the Kroger Shopping center on Grayson Highway.)
