What is Cross Country?

Cross country is distance running on trails or paths (usually not on the road). Younger kids usually run either a mile or 2km. As they get older, they run 2 miles, or 3km. High school students usually run a 5km race.

Who is Eligible?

Cross Country at Sola Fide is open to kids 2nd grade and older.

New This Year

We plan to operate a club and a team this year.

The “club” is for kids who want to run socially with friends after school, but who aren’t interested in the competitive side of things. Kids who sign up for Cross Country Club will practice just on Mondays.

The “team” is for kids who definitely want to push themselves to specific outcomes and personal bests. The Cross Country Team will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Members of the team are expected to attend most, if not all of the meets.

For the first five practice dates (August 6, 7, 11, 13, and 14), all students are welcome so that kids and parents can figure out whether club or team is right for them.

Practices

All Runners (Club and Team) - Mondays 3:50 pm to 4:55 pm

Team only - Wednesdays and Thursdays, 3:50 pm to 4:55 pm

Practices will run from August 6th through September 25th.

Kids should bring running shoes, athletic shorts, and a t-shirt or tank top, and change into these after school to be ready for practice.

There may be an end-of-season celebration/practice at the end of September or beginning of October.

Cost

Team - $75

Club - $20
